Exploring Chullyu Village - Lessons from a Model Agro-Tourism Community

A Learning Journey to Chullyu Village From 27th to 29th April, I had the opportunity to visit Chullyu village in Keyi Panyor district of Arunachal Pradesh. What began as a field visit soon turned into a meaningful journey of learning and reflection.

As I stepped into the village, the first thing that stood out was its cleanliness and organized surroundings. Every corner reflected care and responsibility. It was clear that waste management here is not just a system imposed from outside, but a habit deeply followed by every household. The pride people take in maintaining their environment is truly inspiring.

But Chullyu is not just about cleanliness, it is about community. One of the most remarkable aspects of the village is the way decisions are made. Every matter, whether related to village rules, tourism, or traditions, is discussed and decided together. This collective approach creates unity and ensures that development is inclusive and fair.

The village is also emerging as a model for agro-tourism. By blending agriculture with tourism, Chullyu offers visitors an authentic rural experience while creating sustainable livelihood opportunities for its people. What makes this approach special is that it respects and preserves the cultural identity of the village. This visit made me realize that true development does not always require big investments. Sometimes, it begins with simple values awareness, discipline, and unity among people. My time in Chullyu was more than just a field visit; it was a lesson in how a community can come together to create meaningful change. It has inspired me to think about how such practices can be introduced in my own village, proving that even small steps can lead to big transformations.
